NARRATIVE INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS 2024

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry.  Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

  2. Entry to the Narrative International Photography Awards 2024 (‘Competition’) is open to all Professional Photographers aged 18 years or over.  For the purposes of this Competition, a “Professional Photographer” is a person who earns a portion of their income from photography. Employees of Software Limited (trading as Narrative) (‘Narrative’), and the immediate families of such employees, are not eligible to enter.

  3. The entry period for this Competition commences at 12:01am on September 01 2024 and finishes at 11:59pm on September 30th 2024 (‘Entry Period’).

  4. The Competition will be run online through https://narrative.so/photography-awards (‘Competition Site’).

  5. To enter the Competition, during the Entry Period, prospective entrants must: 

    1. Submit a photograph or photographs (with a limit of 20 entries) in the relevant category or categories (as outlined below) in .jpeg or .jpg format with max file size of 20MB;

    2. Pay a submission fee (as outlined below) ; and, 

    3. Provide contact information as prompted by the submission form.

  6. The categories that may be entered are as follows:

    1. Category (a) Wedding - Tender moment; 

    2. Category (b) Wedding - Hilarious moment; 

    3. Category (c) Portrait - Emotive moment;

    4. Category (d) Portrait - Interesting perspective;

    5. Category (e) Family - Kids will be kids; and

    6. Category (f) Family - Unique perspective


    7. Category (f) Unscripted - Posing

  7. The cost to enter is as follows:
    1 image/entry = free (no cost)
    2 - 3 images/entries = $30 USD
    4 - 5 images/entries = $40 USD
    6+ images/entries = $50 USD

  8. By submitting an entry, entrants warrant that they are the person who captured the photograph, that they have the right to enter the photograph in the Competition (including all relevant rights in the photograph(s) submitted), that they have obtained permission from any identifiable people shown in the photograph, and that the entry does not infringe the rights of any person.

  9. One (1) winner will be chosen for each category. The Competition judging will be conducted from September 30 2024 to November 15 2024. The winners will be determined by a panel of judges who will select the winner based on criteria including artistic merit, technical skill, application to category, and overall aesthetic appeal. The judges may select runners up in each category, who will be awarded the Prize if the winner is not able to accept the Prize for any reason. There is no element of chance or luck involved in the determination of winners.

  10. The judges’ decision is final on all matters and no correspondence will be entered into. 

  11. There are multiple prizes to be won, being awarded to the winning entrant in each category (‘Prize’)

  12. The Prize is not transferable, changeable or redeemable for cash.

  13. Winners will be contacted via the contact details provided at time of entry.

  14. Entrants retain the copyright in their entries. As a condition of entering this Competition, entrants grant Narrative and any Sponsors of the Competition a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence to use entered photographs for promotional/advertising purposes relating to the Competition. Winning entries will be displayed on the Competition Site, Narrative’s websites, and Narrative’s social media channels. Entrant’s names may be published in relation to the Competition.

  15. If the Competition is interfered with in any way, or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Narrative, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, Narrative reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to (a) disqualify any entrant; or (b) modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Competition.

  16. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, Narrative, and all other persons and organisations associated in any way with this Competition, exclude all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity), whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Competition, including, but not limited to, where attributable to any of the following: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under Narrative’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any entry or Prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected; (d) any variation in the Prize; (e) any tax liability incurred by a claimant or entrant; or (f) use of the Prize.

  17. As a condition of participation, each entrant indemnifies Narrative, the judges, and all other persons and organisations associated in any way with this Competition against all claims, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses (including costs on a solicitor-client basis) which the indemnified persons may incur as a result of the entrant’s participation in the Competition, howsoever caused.

  18. Neither Narrative nor any other entity associated with this Competition will be responsible for any late, lost, misdirected or incorrectly submitted entries, including but not limited to entries not received due to technical problems or human error. Entries are deemed to be made at the time they are received by Narrative, not the time they are submitted by the entrant.

  19. Failure by Narrative to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

  20. Narrative reserves the right to disallow entries in its absolute discretion and without giving reasons.

  21. Narrative reserves the right to verify the validity of a winner’s entry and disqualify any entry or refuse to award a Prize where false or misleading details have been given by an entrant or an entrant has behaved in a fraudulent, dishonest or disruptive manner, or otherwise than in accordance with these terms and conditions or the spirit of the Competition.

  22. Narrative collects and holds personal information provided by entrants for the purposes of this Competition. For the purposes of notifying winners and facilitating redemption of the Prizes, Narrative may pass the winners’ personal details to their agencies and other associated organisations. All personal information provided by entrants will be held by Narrative. Under the Privacy Act 2020, entrants have the right to request access to and correction of any such personal information.  Entrants may request access to and correction of any of the details about them held by Narrative by sending an email to [email protected]

  23. This Competition is governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any disputes are to be determined in New Zealand.
