Instantly see all the faces in an image so you can make an immediate decision
about which photos are keepers, and which ones should be rejected.
Make decisions quicker. Zooming in on each face individually is slow, time-consuming and frustrating.
See focus issues and facial expressions ten times quicker!
See the parts of the photo that matter most.
It's especially helpful for photos with lots of posed subjects – but it's helpful even for couple photos or photos with just a single person.

The Close-ups panel is a powerful tool designed to help you quickly evaluate and compare faces in your photos. It automatically zooms in on faces to check expressions, sharpness, and details, making it easier to pick the best shots in portrait, couples, and group photos.
You can open and close the Close-ups: Face Mode with ( / ) or ( . ) on your keyboard. Or open and close the Close-ups: Pan Mode with (⌘ + / ) or (⌘ + .) on your keyboard.
Alternatively, head to the right-hand side of your application and click one of the two Close-up panel icons.
You can toggle Close-ups: Face Mode on and off using the ( / ) or ( . ) keys on your keyboard. To open or close Close-ups: Pan Mode, use (⌘ + / ) or (⌘ + .) on macOS, or ( Ctrl + / ) or ( Ctrl + . ) on Windows.
Yes! The Close-ups panel can zoom in on a maximum of 24 faces at once, and it will choose the main subjects to show first if there are more than 24 in your shot. This allows you to compare them side-by-side in order to choose the photos with the best overall expressions.
Our AI intelligently identifies the most prominent faces in the photo, focusing on the main subjects first to help you easily evaluate expressions and important details.
Use Face Mode to check each person’s expression closely - great for portraits and group shots. Pan Mode allows you to freely review the whole photo in detail, by panning to inspect different parts of the image.
The Close-ups panel is exclusive to the Pro version of Narrative Select + Edit. Upgrade to Pro to unlock this feature!
