Katie shares with us a bit about her journey into photography, what trends are exciting her and what's kept her inspired throughout her career.

How long have you been pursuing photography professionally, and what was the pivotal moment that led you to this career?

I have been making money since I was 16 doing photography (past 17 years). A pivotal moment in my career was getting my internship at Vogue. That experience changed my life and let me know being a fashion photographer was possible.

What do you love most about being a photographer?

I love how each day and project is different. I have a passion for people and helping them shine so that's what brings me the most joy.

Can you share a recent shoot you’re especially proud of, including an image and some background on the project

I just did a branding shoot for world renowned celebrity psychiatrist Dr. Amen. I love working for people I respect and admire.

Are there any emerging trends, new gear, or technologies in photography that particularly excite you right now?

During the pandemic, I started doing facetime headshots. Since then, I have done them for entire apps, companies, campaigns and individuals in over 20 countries. It just shows that you have to never be afraid to pivot your business.

How do you stay inspired and continue to innovate in your work?

What's inspiring me most is actually teaching other photographers. I am launching a membership course in 2025 called "Elevated Vision Collective" that will help other photographers launch their business and have the chance to learn from me. Fresh minds are what truly inspires me at the moment.

As a judge, what qualities or elements are you most looking forward to seeing in the entries?

I am looking for photos that have great composition and knowledge of lighting, and that captivate you at first glance. I love for portraits to have very international eye contact so I can tell the photographer is connecting to the subject.
