Press FAQ

Narrative is an Auckland, New Zealand-based software company that builds workflow tools for professional photographers. Its main product, the Narrative app, brings AI-assisted culling and editing to macOS and Windows. It imports thousands of RAW files in seconds, groups similar shots into scenes, flags missed focus and closed eyes, and applies AI Presets before photographers send their selects to Lightroom or Capture One. Narrative handles the repetitive work; the photographer keeps creative control. The company also makes Narrative Publish, a blogging app for photographers.

Narrative was founded by James Broadbent, its CEO. As one half of photography duo Chasewild, James shot over 280 weddings across 13 countries. He started Narrative to solve the post-production problem he lived firsthand, and the company launched globally in 2018.

Narrative is based in Auckland, New Zealand. Its team includes photographers, engineers and marketers, and its software is used by photographers in more than 180 countries, who import over 2 billion images a year into Narrative.

Narrative is backed by Founders Fund, NZ Growth Capital Partners and Icehouse Ventures.

Narrative has four plans. Billed yearly, they cost $10, $20, $40 and $60 per month for Lite, Standard, Premium and Ultra. Billed monthly, they cost $15, $29, $59 and $79.
