And that’s a wrap on the third annual Narrative International Photography Awards! Every year the awards have been growing but this year we have over 1,500 entries from more than 400 artists around the world. The quality was incredible and so a huge thank you goes out to the judges, Katie Levine, Summer Grace, Kyle Wilson and of course our special judge from Unscripted Cheryl Kitchener who have had the hard job of determining the winners for each of this year’s categories.

But without further ado, below we celebrate the 2024 winners.

Wedding - Tender Moment: Joy Antony

Judge's Feedback

The Kanyadaan ceremony is one of the most emotional parts of any Indian wedding. The bride's family often becomes deeply involved, expressing their true feelings about the occasion. Joy beautifully captured this genuine moment, including the groom, while still preserving the intimacy between the families.

Wedding - Hilarious Moment: Deanne Kampe

Judge’s Feedback

If you've photographed weddings, you know that the veil can take on a life of its own, especially during the couple's formal photos and even more so in the wind. This often leads to frustrating moments. However, once in a blue moon, you capture a moment like the one Deanne caught here, where everything falls apart and turns into a hilarious scene. Deanne did a great job keeping the camera at eye level and not missing this perfect moment.

Portrait - Emotive Moment: Vojtěch Hurych

Judge’s Feedback

As with any powerful portrait, this one provides just enough information to inspire a narrative while leaving many details unconfirmed. Is this man a father, grandfather, or a stranger living in a derelict lighthouse? He is an aging individual, and the mystery of his life is obscured from us, just as the shadows conceal the details. Vojtěch has created a true work of art that takes on a story all it's own.

Portrait - Interesting Perspective: Nick Watson

Judge’s Feedback

Street photography often leads to raw and unexpected juxtapositions. Much like the winner of the emotive portrait, mystery surrounds this man and his role in the group of tourists walking toward him in mass. Nick has a keen eye for the world around him and can quickly notice a moment and capture it before it fades away.

Family - Kids will be Kids: E.J. Dilley

Judge’s Feedback

An honorary mention last year and a winner this year, for good reason. Personally, I noticed the similarities to Nirvana's famous Nevermind album cover. For someone else, it might evoke memories of chlorine from their summer pool. The idea of being a kid in the pool lets life's burdens and responsibilities fade away, allowing nostalgia to return.

Family - Unique Perspective: Alida Turton

Judge’s Feedback

Family images come in many shapes and forms, from posed group photos in matching outfits on the beach to genuine, unscripted moments of everyday life. Alida perfectly captured a mother relaxing in her yard while her toddler explores the world around him, undeterred by her moment of rest.

Unscripted - Posing: Taylor Dawning

Special guest judge and Founder of Unscripted, Cheryl Kitchener's feedback

So many photographers brought something special to the table, whether it was a creative shot that made us feel nostalgic or a candid moment that captured the pure joy of a celebration. There were so many unique and interesting elements in the mix, it made choosing a winner tough. But in the end, one image stood out. The image’s dynamic pose, combined with its emotion of joy in a natural setting, created a powerful visual narrative. It’s this combination of artistic vision and emotional impact that made it the clear choice for the overall winner.

People's Choice: Susana Rios

Judge's Feedback

Our first-ever People's Choice winner, and for good reason! This moment between a bride and her friends is special as they help her prepare in the final moments before the big ceremony. It beautifully captures the close bonds shared in a grand, romantic, and royal ancient setting.
